Living Traditions (LT)
A New Exhibit Series at Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend
Living Traditions is a new series at Bellevue Arts Fair celebrating the multicultural fabric of the Pacific Northwest, one community at a time.
About the LT Series
Living Traditions is a new multicultural series at the Bellevue Arts Fair celebrating the many communities and traditions woven into the artistic life of the Pacific Northwest. Each iteration focuses on a different culture, featuring performances, demonstrations, workshops, and community celebrations. Beyond the fair, the series expands its reach and depth as an online exhibition, an evolving archive of the region's cultural heritage. This year, we begin with the arts of Japan as a deep and growing root in the creative life of the Pacific Northwest.
Inaugural Exhibition
Both an online exhibition and in-person programming – Bellevue Arts Fair Weekend and beyond.

2026 LT Exhibition
Living Traditions: Japanese Art and Resilience in the Pacific Northwest
Co-Curated by Dr. Anna-Marie Moblard Meier and Shizu Usami
Living Traditions celebrates Japanese artistic traditions not as artifact but as living practices made and carried forward by the region's communities. Over three days, visitors can encounter calligraphy, woodblock printing, ceramics, ikebana flower arrangement, taiko drumming, haiku poetry, and the Star Festival through demonstrations, workshops, and performances centered on the Bellevue Arts Museum, Avenue Bellevue, and The Westin Seattle Bellevue.
